Darwin Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women’s Shelter (DAIWS) provides safe and culturally competent services to women and children who have experienced domestic, family and sexual violence. They provide domestic violence crisis centres, transitional housing units and a domestic violence outreach service.

While their main focus area comprises the Northern Territory and Kimberley region, DAIWS also welcomes women and children from jurisdictions across Australia. In the past 12 months DAIWS has supported more than 1,450 victim survivors.

Over the next three years, funding from the Sisterhood Foundation will support DAIWS in building culturally appropriate healing programs, leadership development, and updating their client technology systems.
